only because they walked
upon the earth and upon
the wind and upon the waters,
until they found me.” —Pablo Neruda (via yasodhara)
eat my arms
barter my legs (make my thighs into altars of grief)
skin that does not drink night
hair that is not angry
body that is not soil.
i place curses on my flesh
call them diets
tell my ancestors
they are ugly
howl at my nose until it bleeds.
run my heart across my teeth, repeatedly
i am dying
to be beautiful
beautiful is something
i will never
be.” —by the time we are seven, nayyirah waheed (via nayyirahwaheed)

one of the things i like best about avatar is how incredibly validating it is like “stuff” isn’t just ever stuff.
when sokka says “i do believe in the power of stuff.” —
it’s a true thing.
and his words are proven true by the narrative as “”stuff”” validates the avatar—
at first when sokka and katara are looking at kyoshi’s things they are just memorabelia, relics — but no, they are still kyoshi’s and they are the avatar’s and they might be her stuff but it isn’t just “”stuff”” and they are relevant and they still have meaning and they still speak truth
validates the rest of Team Avatar as well.
"Our two soules therefore, which are one, Though I must goe, endure not yet A breach, but an expansion, Like gold to ayery thinnesse beate. If they be two, they are two so As stiffe twin compasses are two, Thy soule the fixt foot, makes no show To move, but doth, if the'other doe. And though it in the center sit, Yet when the other far doth rome, It leanes, and hearkens after it, And growes erect, as it comes home. Such wilt thou be to mee, who must Like th'other foor, obliquely runne; Thy firmnes makes my circle just, And makes me end, where I begunne."
What’s your fighting name, the fancy dancer?
If you only knew — avatar aang, dance with me aang —
remember when aang’s long term plan world to save the world included throwing an impromptu dance party because i do
and that they learned fire bending not by fighting against each other but by dancing together
“Dance with me.”

“We often think of peace as the absence of war, that if powerful countries would reduce their weapon arsenals, we could have peace. But if we look deeply into the weapons, we see our own minds- our own prejudices, fears and ignorance. Even if we transport all the bombs to the moon, the roots of war and the roots of bombs are still there, in our hearts and minds, and sooner or later we will make new bombs. To work for peace is to uproot war from ourselves and from the hearts of men and women. To prepare for war, to give millions of men and women the opportunity to practice killing day and night in their hearts, is to plant millions of seeds of violence, anger, frustration, and fear that will be passed on for generations to come.” - Thich Nhat Hanh
