This applies to ALL fandoms. I’ve been in so many different fandoms and its always the case. I’m beginning to accept ship wars as a part of fandom - its so ubiquitous it must be a facet of human nature or something. 

Exceeeept certain ships/ shippers get bashed/degraded/insulted more than others. Arthur/Gwen shippers have endured all manner of hate and derision from the fandom since they became a couple, and that derision has run the gamut from blatant racism and sexism to constant, subtle put-downs and snide comments. To my knowledge, the Merthur tag or the Merwaine tag or the tags about other characters aren’t usually peppered with dislike and scorn. Yet scroll through the Gwen tag and you’ll inevitably find some hate or shade. I’m all for peace in the fandom and all ships holding hands, but can we please stop pretending that fandom strife stems from shippers in general bashing each other?

Not all ships were created equal. Some of us get a lot more bashing than others. for reasons that reflect the realities of a sexist, racist world.. And I’m tired of that reality being erased in discussions of ship wars.
