To the fans who dressed up as Merthur and Kissed at SDCC

I’m hoping against hope that you identify as queer/gay/lesbian or some variation of that. If you do, then CHEERS! Because queer baiting shows NEED to know that queer people want actual representation instead of just endless white dude no-home shit. And public displays of queer love are still dangerous, frowned upon and garner any manner of reactions from distaste to life-threatening violence. For this reason, if you’re queer and stood up at SDCC to affirm the right of queer people to exist VISIBLY in our media, I applaud you, and your actions are potentially radical.

If however you aren’t queer/lesbian/bisexual/gay or any of these.

If you’re just straight cis fans who thought this would be OMG CUTE and OMG CLEVER:

That’s right. FUCK YOU for caring more about your headcanon than you do the lives and realities of actual queer people. FUCK YOU for lapping up the queer-bait and begging for more, all the while ignoring the dearth of queer representation on screen. FUCK YOU for not even thinking about how your little stunt is something that actual queer people get shit for doing in public. And FUCK YOU for fuelling the hegemony of white male heterosexual men onscreen, and DOUBLE FUCK YOU for gleefully perpetuating the conflation of gay maleness with whiteness.

FUCK YOU.
